Invited by the Torun detachment of Campaign Against Homophobia, the Trans-Fuzja mobile assault team comprised of Voca and Zzuzzu, on December 15th set out to Torun, to carry out transgender workshops there. Such workshops took place in May 2007, also by an invitation from CAH. Here is a short account of the meeting. Me and Zuzka reached Torun at noon, sharp. Sun was shining brightly and it all was just asking for a stroll over the historical centre of the town, which we both visited for the first time – but duty was calling. Therefore, without any hesitation, we were led to the Enerde club by one Przemek Szczeplocki, who was taking care of us during that visit. In there – once the belated inhabitants of Bydgoszcz arrived – we commenced our great task. Voca started the action, and in a temperature a little over room temperature (although that might be disputed), introduced the basics of trans to the attending public. The ones present there know what was being discussed, the ones absent – well... - after digging through tons of posts and articles from crossdressing.pl site, Trans-Fuzja’s site, forum of transseksualizm.pl site, Międzypłciowość (Intersexuality) site, english Wikipedia and the foras of shemales, will know that too – and therefore we kindly suggest reading those sources. And, as the temperature in the Enerde club was not exactly favourable, those not in a hurry for a bus back to Bydgoszcz, went on to a very comfortably warm place called Manekin club to carry on with the second part of the workshops – and it was also the place serving the best pancakes I have ever eaten in my life.
There, with transgender Zuzanna, we delved into the details of trans-knowledge, with the society craving for enlightement. It was a place where Zuzka answered ‘The hundreds questions to a trans person’, and I did my best in order to present all the problems and joys of trans people – a task that I was assisted in by a local transgirl present at the workshops.
At the Manekin with a pancake...
We concluded the workshops at around 22.00 with a last sip of tea and a last bite of a pancake, waved goodbye to the respected guests and members of CAH that invited us over there, entered our car and starting from the area of Slimak Getynski we embarked on a long journey home – looking for Voca’s lost scarf in Enerde on the way.
On behalf of the organizing party and my own I thank the guests for their coming. It was a great evening for us, and I do hope to meet again :)
